GET OUT OF MY HEAD
gifparty:
One of my strange, frenzied dreams this morning was that I was trying to do this. Like, full-on flapping bird arms and that ballet move in which you scurry across the floor on your toes with quick, staccato-steps.
Even in my dreams I couldn’t do it gracefully. And I wish this damn movie would stop infiltrating my dreams 2 (3?) weeks later.

There’s a section on the southwest side of the city of Chicago that’s woefully underserved by public transportation, south of 95th Street and west toward the city limits. The red line goes right down the middle of the city and ends at 95th St. West of the Dan Ryan, the green line ends at 63rd and…

psychotherapy:
As the dirt and germs are wiped away, we’re left feeling not just bodily but also morally cleansed - a kind of metaphorical virtuosity that leads us to judge others more harshly. That’s according to Chen-Bo Zhong’s team, who invited 58 undergrads to a lab filled with spotless new equipment. Half the students were asked to clean their hands with an antiseptic wipe so as not to soil...

Don’t you wish you could have your own personal holidays? As in, aside from those that are nationally observed you could have up to 5 extra days that you can assign so that you can “observe” the shit that’s happened in your own life.
Today would have been my sister’s 33rd birthday. There’s work to be done, but all I want to do is go home and melt into the...

Feminism. I do not think it means what you think it means.
I’ve gone into outrages towards those who have tried to tell someone that they’re not feminist, I admit this. However, it’s usually over something like, “Oh my GOD that woman thinks she’s a feminist, but she shaves her armpits!” or “YOU think YOU’RE a feminist, despite the fact that you...

psychotherapy:
If you thought depression was caused by low serotonin levels, think again. It looks as if the brain chemistry of a depressed person is much more complex, with mounting evidence suggesting that too much serotonin in some brain regions is to blame.
If correct, it might explain some of the negative side-effects associated with selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs),...

I analyzed two different types of writing and got David Foster Wallace both times. How flattering and … inaccurate? None of my excerpts even had footnotes!
